Does Stainless Steel Pipe Really Not Rust?

Stainless steel tube is not easy to rust, but it does not mean that it will not rust forever. People call it stainless steel pipe just because it is not easy to rust.General stainless steel tube is made from 18% mixing of chromium in iron, which means that it is a kind of alloy. In addition, steel pipe is also blended with nickel and other materials.

Compared with iron, the reason why stainless steel tube is not easy to rust is that when the stainless steel tube is made into thin plate, the surface of the thin sheet will form into a strong layer of coated film, guarding the inside. The kind of coated film is a kind of oxide. Actually it is also a kind of "rust", and therefore we can admit the fact that stainless steel tube can be easier to "rust" than steel. However, the "rust" plays a protective role to protect the thin film. Another similar material is aluminum whose surface can be also formed into a layer of oxide coated film. Thus, aluminum can not be easy to rust. Stainless steel pipe as well as aluminum all has such a layer of oxide film to protect the internal sections. Therefore, when we wash finish products of stainless steel pipe or aluminum products, it is best not to use decontamination powder to wipe the surface, otherwise it will damage the layer of oxide film.

Stainless steel pipe is just adding added a small amount of chromium iron, its main composition is still iron. Therefore it can be sucked up by magnet. It should be pointed out that if the iron proportion content of stainless steel pipe is more than a certain amount of number, it will rust certainly.
