There are three kinds type of forging flange sealing surface:

Planar sealing surface. It is suitable for the low pressure and non-toxic medium occasion.

Concave-convex sealing surface. It is appropriate for slightly higher pressure occasion.

Mortise sealing surface. It applies to the occasion when medium is flammable, explosive, toxic and pressure is high. Gasket is a kind of material which can deform plastic and has certain strength circular rings.

Above introduced and stated may be very standard, so people who understand it may be less. For example, there is a long-distance transmission pipeline. It is necessary to connect the entire pipeline with a part of pipe one by one. It should installed valves, sight glasses, compensators, etc on the pipeline. It can also be welded up by electrowelding, therefore, it can not be removed after maintenance. Most pipelines will choose this pipe flange joint so as to facilitate future maintenance and replacement.

Welding a head of flange and the pipe flange or using other method in order to connect them together, and then fasten two pieces of relatively fixed flange with fasteners (bolts). What has done can form into a complete pipeline. Pipes, valves, sight glasses and others are also basically connected by this way.
