What Is American Flange Standard System

At present, the domestic pressure pipe and its component application standard are various, however, basically incomplete. Take American flange standard for example, the commonly used standard is the national standard (GB), mechanical industry standards (JB), the petrochemical industry standards (SH) and chemical industry standard (HG), etc. Each standard has its own temperature and pressure gauge, sealing surface size and pipe measurement. Their interchangeability is very poor and some of them can not be used together. In order to be a good application of these standards, it is necessary to introduce the current domestic commonly used application standard system of pressure piping.

Petrochemical industry (SH) application standard system:

Pipe dimension series standards (SH3405) basically belong to "large diameter series".

SH3405 and other standards adopt ISO4200, so when the DN is less than or equal to 1100mm, it can be utilized with ANSI B36.l/36.1 together.

The flange standard (SH3406): "American flange".

SH3406 and other standards adopt ANSI B16.5 and API605.

Nominal pressure: eight grades: PN1.0, PN2.0 (CL150), PN5.0 (CL300), PN6.8 (CL400), PN10.0 (CL600), PN15.0 (CL900), PN25.0 (CL1500), and PN42.0 (CL2500).

Nominal diameter: DN15 ~ DN1500mm.

SH3406 has good compatibility with ANSI B16.5 / API605 on the structure size and the American standard flange sealing surface type. It can be used together with ANSI, API, MSS and other standard piping components. Because SH3406 adopts China national material standards instead of the American material standard (ASTM), the temperature and pressure gauge has a little deviation. When we are considering interconverting both of the standards, it should be paid attention to and checked their corresponding to the allowable values of temperature and pressure.
